JOB INFORMATION
PRIMARY PURPOSE: We are seeking interns for our position(s) in Irving, TX, with a focus in systems engineering to join our Bid Operations internship program within Systems Engineering. We are seeking interns who have coursework, experience, or knowledge in wireless networks or basic engineering.
If selected, you will support one or more experienced engineers in completing bid-related activities, spend time shadowing systems engineers, and have assignments that support the day-to-day workings of engineering. The Systems Engineering intern supports design, modeling, system testing, surveying, pricing, and documentation activities.
Upon completion of the internship, the successful engineering intern may be exposed to and be capable of executing some the following essential functions.
Essential Functions
Design small radio systems in a timely and accurate manner.
Create bills of material (BOM) to document designs.
Create drawings and diagrams as needed to illustrate high level system designs.
Conduct site surveys to gather additional information needed to satisfy customers’ needs and identify potential issues that could affect system design or implementation.
Conduct radio coverage validation testing.
Create unsolicited proposals and rough order of magnitude quotes.
Interface with vendors and subcontractors as required.
Run customer coverage predictions using EDX coverage tool.

Agree to abide by the established Approval Matrix.
Required Education And Experience
Satisfactory completion of high school with exposure to engineering coursework.
Enrollment, or planned enrollment, in a post-secondary program in electrical, mechanical, software engineering, computer information systems, Information Technology, or related program.
Ability to use Excel, Word, and other Microsoft office programs.
Must be able to approach technical problems in a logical and scientific manner.
Aptitude for understanding basic system engineering principles.
Basic understanding of electromagnetics
Preferred knowledge in antenna theory
Preferred experience with RF software and test equipment
Competencies
Demonstrated team-building skills.
Ability to effectively communicate with employees, vendors, and customers.
Ability to demonstrate sense of urgency and instill this in others.
Create documents using a mixture of Microsoft Office tools (incl. Word, Excel, and Visio), mapping tools, coverage analysis tools (e.g., EDX), and other supporting tools as necessary.
Must be able a fluent English writer, speaker, and reader.
