Hiring Range: Hourly rate is based on the college level candidate is currently in, 1st year (Freshman) $21.00 – 2nd year (Sophomore) $21.63 – 3rd year (Junior) $22.28 – 4th year (Senior) or Graduate Student $22.95 Work Day/Hours: Work Hours/Days: Option 1: Approximately 30 hours/week Monday – Friday / 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Duration: One semester The City of Durham’s nationally recognized, award-winning Fleet Management Department (https://www.durhamnc.gov/1375/Fleet-Management) procures safe, dependable, cost-effective equipment, and furnishes quality maintenance services to all City departments. Our talented team ensures that City vehicles and equipment are in excellent working condition. Additional Fleet Management Department services include disposal of obsolete equipment, fuel management services of three fueling locations, parts inventory management and utilization analysis and reporting. Duties/Responsibilities Works with staff to develop data analysis and web visualization processes that present the data to internal and public audiences in a meaningful way. Researches improvement options to the recruiting process for the department by communicating with external contacts. Creates and conducts customer service surveys. Assists with data management of vehicles and equipment in the fleet management system. Adheres to Fleet Management Department standards. Performs minor office duties such as filing, sorting, collating, stapling, and typing. Minimum Qualifications & Experience Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student Must be at least 18 years old. Must be a sophomore, junior or senior. skills in: Building relationships with team members. Clear and concise written and verbal communication. Exercising initiative and good judgment. Report writing and record keeping. Making recommendations to leadership. Additional Preferred Skills Preferred knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint. Experience in data management.
