Animax Designs creates extraordinary three-dimensional characters for the themed entertainment, location-based entertainment, commercial, film, and television industries. We are currently seeking interns for our Summer 2023 Internship program!
The Sculptural Design Intern is a paid internship during Summer 2023. This individual will assist with the production of 3D forms using a variety of sculptural design techniques, including mold making, casting, composite fabrication, and painting. This internship will provide hands-on experience with fabricating parts in accordance with specifications and per company standards. The ideal candidate is someone is who eager to learn and help where needed.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
Assist with mold-making and casting and other fabrication techniques, produced from sculptures or other dimensional models
Work with water and oil-based clay and other modeling techniques including digital.
Assist with making various types of molds, including matrix, stone, box molds, etc.
Assist with skins and other soft casting processes using, silicone, foams, urethanes, or other materials used in producing skins.
Assist with painting and painting preparation, including sanding
Assist with photographing and documenting project builds
Assist and aid in keeping a safe work environment including but not limited to making sure proper PPE are worn in areas that require them, making sure that containers are properly marked, put away and/or disposed of properly, taking care of tools and equipment and reporting them when needing repair.
All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Must be at least 18 years old and able to work in the USA legally
Experience with sculpture, mold-making, casting, or other fabrication techniques
Must have a Portfolio past and current work
Experience working in a shop environment
Able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
Ability to work around various chemicals, including epoxies, polyesters, urethanes, etc…
Able to use shop tools; sanders, grinders, saws, handheld cutting instruments, etc for extended periods of time
Able to stand for long periods of time as well as occasionally squat, kneel, crawl etc, to be underneath or on top of a mold
