AWARD INFORMATION
To stimulate the study of safety and environmental management and to promote employment in this subject, the Campus Safety, Health and Environmental Management Association (CSHEMA) has funded an annual Scholarship Award Program since 1977. This award is given in Dr. Fay Thompson's honor. The scholarship is available to undergraduate students currently enrolled as full-time students at an institution of higher learning in North America who are preferably majoring in fields related to environmental health and safety, including but not limited to environmental science, fire protection, health physics, industrial engineering, industrial hygiene, occupational health, and safety. The applicant's degree program must have at least one full year of study left before they may apply. By using the online form by April 15th, the applicant must submit their application, essay, and official transcript. Any extra, unrelated documents (such as photographs, resumes, research papers, etc.) will not be taken into consideration and will be thrown away. The qualified candidate who submits the winning essay will receive one $3,000 grant. At the CSHEMA Annual Conference in July, the scholarship will be given out or made public. The winner will be given a pass to the CSHEMA Annual Conference, with registration, lodging, and travel expenses paid for by CSHEMA.
