AWARD INFORMATION
The George Robert Earle Grant-In-Aid is provided by the United Daughters of the Confederacy. The recipient is chosen by and must be enrolled in Davidson College in Davidson, North Carolina. The only places to get scholarship application forms are your local UDC Chapters. the following documents to your application: Lineage form, which should be fully filled out and include comprehensive lineage documentation if submitted by a non-UDC/CofC candidate. Must provide evidence connecting each generation to the following. Copy of an authorized UDC or CofC application that shows the whole service history of a Confederate ancestor: The following requirements must be met: a) for the military, submit an official Confederate military record from a reliable source, showing unit and state; b) for civil service or material aid, submit proof from a reliable source and provide a detailed account of service (if the ancestor took the Oath of Allegiance).Form for general scholarship applications (official UDC form, amended 2009), fully filled out, and with the signatures of the president and second vice president of the UDC Chapter and Division (or CWND). On school letterhead, a letter of reference from a current teacher or counselor providing a fair assessment of the candidate official transcript of grades from the previous year's autumn semester or quarter. letter from the applicant, signed (maximum 300 words) (1) committing to use the opportunity provided by a UDC scholarship as effectively as feasible; (2) listing goals and discussing plans or preparation for achieving them; and (3) describing what being awarded a UDC scholarship would mean to the applicant. Only UDC Chapters may submit completed scholarship applications by the Chapter deadline. Chapters establish their own deadlines to ensure that the Division Second Vice President receives the applications by the Division deadline.By the April 15 general deadline, the Division Second Vice President will forward the applications to the Second Vice President General. If the candidate does not have a high school diploma, the GED and most recent SAT/ACT scores will be considered in lieu of GPA.
